NAME: Arthur Lucas Weasley AGE/BIRTHDAY: 30/February 6, 1950 BLOOD STATUS: Proud to be a pureblood traitor FORMER HOUSE: Gryffindor/1968 OCCUPATION: Full-time Order member/father. |
Relationships |
FAMILY: Any family of importance who may or may not be making an appearance in-game. Other mentions of importance should be included under history. SEPTIMUS ARTURIUS WEASLEY. Father. Blood-traitor in that he doesn't hate Muggles. The kind of guy you look at and think, "oh, he's fatherly". Fatherhood came naturally to Septimus, who likes to be called "Septy". He is a kind and gentle man. CEDRELLA PRISCILlA WEASLEY, nee BLACK Mother. Blood-traitor in that she married a man who doesn't hate Muggles and who was poor besides. The Blacks blasted her off the family tree. She's a forcefully cheerful woman who always seems to get her way. BILIUS IANUS WEASLEY Older brother (34). Bit of a partier. He likes dancing, firewhiskey, and random nudity. It doesn't look like he's going to be settling down anytime soon. EVANDER QUIRINUS WEASLEY Older brother. (32) The scholar of the family. Serious, contemplative, and quiet. SEXUALITY: Heterosexual, but he's really only ever had eyes for Molly. SIGNIFICANT OTHER: His dearest, darlingest Mollywobbles. CHILDREN:: Bill (b. 29 Nov 1970), 10; Charlie (b. 12 Dec 1972), 8; Percy (b. 22 Aug 1976), 5; Fred & George (b. 01 Apr 1978), 2; Ronald, 7 months (b. March 1, 1980) |

LOYALTY/ALLIANCE: Order of the Pheonix ROLE IN THE WAR: You might not be able to tell by looking at him, but Arthur is a relatively skilled duelist with a good handle on hexes and jinxes. He's not one of those who enjoys fighting, though. He'll do it if there's no other alternative and if it's for the right cause, but he doesn't jump for joy at the thought of dueling a Death Eater. He'd much rather get on with finding the Horcruxes with as little fighting as possible. It's not that he's a coward - he's simply aware of the fact that he has children to live for, and intends to live as long as possible for them. Arthur's got a lot of patience and he's a very good listener. This might not sound like much, but when you're trying to get information out of someone, Arthur finds it best to just let them ramble on - eventually they'll let something slip. Finally, his love for Muggle cultures means that being in areas heavily populated by Muggles is not uncomfortable for him - in fact, it's exciting. POLITICAL VIEWS: Muggles? Muggles are fantastic! Yes, maybe they're born without magic, but look at all the things they've done to compensate for that! They can fly without brooms, for Merlin's sake! They are full of ingenuity and an inventive spirit, and should be commended, not condemned, for making their way in the world without the use of magic. As for Muggleborns - if they're blessed with magic, wonderful! Teach them and integrate them into wizarding society. They're no different from a pureblood wizard or witch. If Arthur had his way, there would be no secrecy between Muggles and wizards. They would all live together in a happy utopia, hand in hand as they step bravely into the horizon of possibility and hope. There's so much wizards can learn from Muggles, if only they would listen. As for werewolves and halfbloods, Arthur doesn't really care. A person's a person no matter |
Appearance |
APPEARANCE: Arthur moves around. A lot. A lot a lot. He uses big, grand head gestures, tilts his head almost horizontally when he's confused, and has been known to literally jump out of his seat with excitement. When you're talking to him, it's safe to assume that he's pacing the floor or walking around in circles. His hair is red, of course, and his eyes are a light shade of blue. He talks almost excitedly as he moves, using odd vocal inflections to make his point. He has a fondness for sweater vests, many of which are knitted for him by his wife. |
Personality |
| WAND: 12 5/8", red cedar, raven feather, sturdy BOGGART: You might think it would be the death of his family, but it's not. Not quite. It's the sight of his children being tortured and not being able to do a thing about it. Arthur can't stand the idea of his loved ones in pain, and to think of someone hurting them and being unable to save them - it's more than he can bear. PATRONUS: Weasel. When conjuring it, he thinks of his wedding day. Keep the game's premise in mind while filling out the areas below. Strengths and weaknesses can include anything from things like cooking, charms, and allergies to what gets under their skin most of all. LIKES: Molly, the smell of a well run kitchen, homemade meals, the sweaters and sweater vests Molly makes him, his children, chocolate, Muggles, Muggle technology, getting Muggles to explain to him how airplanes stay in the sky, getting Muggles to talk about anything Muggle-related, Muggle cars, most Muggle music (he'll like anything he can sing along to, which includes going "doo doo dee doo" along with jazz records), Muggle film, pretty much anything that has anything to do with Muggles whatsoever, a warm fireplace. DISLIKES: Voldemort, Death Eaters, murder and death and torture, people setting things on fire, prejudice against Muggles, rudeness, pureblood elitists, bugs (especially cockroaches and spiders, yes he knows they aren't technically insects but it falls under the same category), being apart from Molly and the children, feeling helpless STRENGTHS: Listening, being a father, good with children, skilled in Charms, decent duelist, curious, responsible WEAKNESSES: Can't cook to save his life, terrible with Potions, too curious for his own good, is very easily distracted by Muggle things, can't hold his liquor, overlooks people's flaws KNOWN INFORMATION: Both Arthur and Molly have been outed as Order members. To anyone who knows Arthur, this shouldn't be much of a surprise. He's a Muggle-addict, after all. Of course he'd be opposed to anyone trying to wipe them out and put in place a pureblood regime. To purebloods, he'll be "one of those" families - you know, the pureblood families who lost all their wealth and respectability and don't even care, how dare they exist. DETAILED PERSONALITY: The most obvious of Arthur's traits is his curiosity. You know how children ask "why" over and over and over again? Arthur never grew out of that. He has never lost that sense of childlike wonder, that drive to discover what everything means and how everything works. He'll poke and prod at everything around him - "what does this button do?" "What happens if I do that?" "Where did that come from and why?" He never stops asking questions. Arthur also loves knowing things about people. He'll listen to you babble on about your life for hours, just because he wants to get to know you. Especially if you're a Muggle. The Muggle world is the most foreign to Arthur, so it's only natural that it's the subject he's most obsessed with. He can come on a little strong when he's trying to find things out, but it's not cockiness - just a zeal for understanding the world. Were he a Muggle, he'd likely have gone into a scientific field. Arthur might seem to be "the Muggle guy" to others, but there's more to him than that. He's an eternal optimist who always sees the silver lining. He always looks on the bright side of life, to quote the Monty Python song. Still, he is forced to live in reality, not in ideals. Having a family as large as his means that he can't spend all of his time lost in the clouds. He may want to wander off and work on taking apart Muggle appliances all day, but he knows that he can't afford to. Arthur has responsibilities, and he's a responsible man. He holds himself accountable for everything he does. He does his very best to be a good person, and always strives to do what's right. He's a good father. Arthur had an excellent father-figure growing up, and he emulates Septimus Weasley when it comes to his family. He is patient with his children and is generally good with children - not a surprise, seeing as in some ways he's like a child himself. Being a father came naturally to Arthur. He loves introducing his children to the world, teaching them things, and encouraging them to question the world around him. He's also not the type of man who panics often, which is helpful when your children are running wild and breaking family heirlooms, as children are wont to do. Integrity and honesty are important traits for Arthur. He tries to be honest and fair when dealing with others and expects them to act the same way. This can cause problems for him, as he sometimes expects others to be the same way. It's not that he's gullible, it's just that he sees the best in people more than he sees their flaws. Arthur wants the world to be a good place, and he sometimes forgets that what he wants and what actually is are two different things. |

There's a list of 365 character questions here. CHILDHOOD: Arthur Weasley came from a long line of complicated, Latinized names. His parents, Septimus and Cedrilla, followed that tradition with his older brothers Bilius and Evander. When came to bestow a name their newest and last son, they spent some time mulling over the Weasley family tree and finally realized: they were considered blood traitors. They were hated by the pureblood world. Why not give their son a strong English name that other people could easily pronounce? They ignored tradition and named him Arthur, and he went on to ignore tradition for the rest of his life. His childhood was largely unremarkable, but happy. Arthur was the youngest of three, which meant that he got all the hand-me-downs and and was teased the most. His family was on the lower end of the economic scale, but they got by. Arthur watched the rambunctious Bilius went off to Hogwarts, and then the quiet Evander, with the typical jealousy of a wizarding child who just wanted to get a wand and leave home and go on adventures like his big brothers. In the mean time, he spent his days asking questions and trying to figure out everything he could possibly figure out. HOGWARTS: Just like his oldest brother and his father, Arthur was Sorted into Gryffindor. He was a bundle of excitement his first year, frequently interrupting his teachers to get them to elaborate and bugging his classmates by asking them questions about themselves. It was at Hogwarts that Arthur was really introduced to the concept of the Muggleborn. He'd heard of them, yes, but he'd never met one, and when he did, he met the first of his two life-long loves: Muggle life. Arthur was fascinated with it from the start. At first, he was a bit too enthusiastic about asking his Muggleborn classmates questions, but as he grew and matured, he became more respectful. Still, his enthusiasm for the subject didn't wane, even if he didn't quite grasp the finer points of Muggle culture and technology - like how a telephone worked, or what electricity was. Or how to pronounce "electricity". It was also at Hogwarts that Arthur met the woman who can only be described as his soulmate. Arthur was in love with Molly from the word "go". He was head-over-heels, got-the-moon-on-a-string, bewitched-bothered-and-bewildered in love with her. That Muggle song, "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You"? Arthur became himself when he met Molly. He doesn't know how else to describe it. Something about her caused something within him to come alive. It started off as friendship during their first few years at school, but it didn't take them long to figure out that they were meant to be together. When they were both made prefect, they only grew closer. They began officially dating near the end of fourth year, and have been together ever since. Arthur was a decent enough student. He wasn't brilliant, but he wasn't dumb, either. He did well enough in class, excelling especially in Charms and performing rather miserably in Potions. Spending time with Molly was much more important to him than studying, after all. POST-HOGWARTS: (if available) Arthur wasn't really sure what he wanted to do with his life career-wise. If he had it his way, he'd be tinkering with Muggle appliances day in and day out - unfortunately, no one was willing to pay him to do that. He got a low-level job in the Ministry in the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office, where he tried to stay out of politics and just do his job. There was one thing he was certain of, though. Not long after they graduated Hogwarts, Arthur asked Molly to marry him. They were young, but it seemed like dark times were coming - and besides that, they both knew they were meant for each other. Neither one of them felt the need for a fancy wedding. Instead of picking out engraved invitations and deciding what appetizers to serve at the reception, the two of them eloped and found a tiny apartment in London. It wasn't long before their first child, Bill (Arthur kept the "strong English name" pattern), was born - and by the time their second was on the way, Arthur and Molly found a home in the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon, England, dubbed "The Burrow". After their second, Charlie, came Percy, and then the twins, Fred and George. Arthur was thrilled with all of them. He'd always wanted a large family, and even if he worried about how he was going to provide for them, each one was a blessing. They made additions to the Burrow to accomodate everyone, and all in all, life was good. But the threat of Voldemort was unmistakable. Part of Arthur didn't want to get involved; after all, he had a family to protect. But he couldn't just sit by and do nothing. He was contacted by Dumbledore in regards to something called the Order of the Pheonix, and he and Molly readily joined. Not long after, Dumbledore defeated Voldemort, and the hunt for the Horcruxes began. By this time, Molly was pregnant again. Everything in Arthur's being rebelled against the idea of joining the hunt before the baby was born, and he stayed with her until Ronald came into the world and for a little while after. When Ron was 3 months old, Molly and Arthur came to the difficult decision to separate. Molly would stay with the children in England, and Arthur would quit his job and join the Order in America. Molly would hopefully follow when she could. It killed Arthur to leave his family, but he knew it was for the greater good. Arthur went back to England in mid-June 1980 and returned to Molly and his children when a bout of illness hit the Weasley children. He stayed at the Burrow until October. |
Just for fun |
FIVE THINGS: • I've always loved his fascination with Muggles, and I definitely want to explore that in game. Having him wander off in a strange city because OOH, SHINY TECHNOLOGY or WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT MUGGLE CULTURE would be fantastic. • Arthur and Molly's relationship. I didn't pick Arthur for the shipping, but I like that it's there. I think Marthur (Artholly?) is all about two people who might bicker now and then but who ultimately, unconditionally love each other. They're two halves of a whole. If anyone knows How I Met Your Mother, I think of Marthur as having a Lily/Marshall dynamic (I found clips this time! honeymoon day 1, day 2) - BUT ANYWAY. I'd like to explore that relationship. • I'd also like to explore what Arthur would do if Molly was ever lost or in danger. The willingness to do whatever it takes to save someone you love? It's a very Gryffindor trait, and I haven't played someone like that for awhile. • It'd be cool if Arthur's interest in Muggles somehow benefited the Order. Like if he happened to know some random Muggle fact that helped them out in some way. • I've actually never played a parent. Not that I can think of, anyway. Arthur has like six billion kids (...I may be exaggerating). Having to put your family before What Must Be Done for the Order is a difficult thing and something I'd like to get into. STRANDED: Items -Wand. Duh. -A photo album of The Family -His collection of batteries. Heaven Molly, of course. He'd say one of the children, but then he'd have to pick between them, and he just couldn't do that. Hell Lucius Malfoy or some other smug pureblood elitist. Jerks. |
